A court in New York State has issued what could be a first, an protection order for a duck, after a man was charged with trying to hunt it.
The man has been ordered to stay away from the duck, whose name is Circles, by a Suffolk County judge.
Circles' owner says a group of young people jumped over her backyard fence and swarmed the duck with pellet guns.
Circles has recovered after having a bullet pierce her voice box.
The 21-year-old suspect has pleaded not guilty to felony animal cruelty charges.
